In addition to all that, there are just endless incest jokes made between the siblings about each other and their parents, like, every single episode. The entire show revolves around an overwhelmingly manipulative, psychologically and emotionally abusive father and the adult children who are caught in an endless cycle of harm.

I love this show, yet it is full of potentially triggering content. I wish it was always like that for us! Succession on HBO Content warning: Endless incest jokes, abusive parents, discussion of sexual violence I cried but because I thought it was so powerful to see this kind of misconduct actually handled appropriately by the other characters.

While it is very upsetting, we see both women receive support and validation where it really counts. She then learns that he took his dick out in front of another woman (we hear about it from her but don't see it). He first acts like he's her ally, then creepily shows her porn, and on another occassion grabs her crotch. A bigger, complicated storyline involves another woman and her experience being assaulted by a man who is her senior in her on-campus comedy club. I personally didn't find it skeeving me out and thought it was thoughtfully handled. They don't portray it as particularly creepy or predatory and when the relationship comes to light no one shames her for it but rightfully, holds the coach responsible for the inappropriate relationship. Spoilers and content warning: There are a few storylines worth mentioning, the first is that one of the women has a sexual relationship with her soccer coach. But it's also whip smart and I wish there were double the episodes because I couldn't get enough. Like, laugh aloud every single episode funny. From Mind Kaling, the show follows four women during their freshman year of college navigating sex and friendships. The Sex Lives of College Girls is one of my favorite shows to come out in 2021. I don't know if this is the last we will hear about it, but I have a hunch that it will continue to be a storyline for a while. The Sex Lives of College Girls on HBO Max Content warning: Sexual assault, coach/player inappropriate relationship We see the girl also processing her trauma and being triggered when on a date with a young man. We do not know by whom, but we do know her mother knew about it and stayed silent. In the fourth episode, there is a young woman who plays a kitchen maid who discloses that, in the past, she was sexually abused. This warning is only for the first four episodes that I've seen so far. The Gilded Age on HBO Content warning: Disclosure of childhood sexual abuse

TV has been such a good friend to me, but sometimes it does betray me. So I wish I could tell you that I'm reading books all the time, like the East Coast liberal elitist intellectual that lives in my soul, but it simply isn't my truth. I also find that for me personally, when I am triggered when I am reading it bothers me so much more than when I am triggered by TV.

I find it much more managable for me personally than reading, I find with reading my imagination has too much leeway and can take me places where I don't want to go. It is a healthy escapism for me that helps me re-balance myself. My friends often remark how I'm always the first to have watched something, and there's rarely a show someone can recommend to me that I haven't already binged. TV is an enormous part of my mental healthcare.
